Over the last few months, Bridge Rectifier has produced laser-cut parts for 3,200 visors to help the community through the coronavirus. Working with a team from the wider community, these have been assembled and distributed to those in need.
Working with a local GP, PPE was first trialled with the Northern Alliance GP Hot Hubs. Together with facemasks made by a team coordinated by local business Word of Mouth, visors were sent to: hospitals; nursing homes; doctors surgeries; care homes; individuals; businesses in Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd & Todmorden; pharmacists; Team Rubicon; funeral parlours; midwives; podiatrists; physiotherapists; shop workers etc etc.
The last few hundred are awaiting distribution, but production totals 3,200 visors and 1,400 face masks. Materials cost £5k, with sales and donations totalling £6.7k. As a non-profit group, Bridge Rectifier donated the project surplus of £1,730 to Calder Community Cares, the local volunteering network born out of responding to the community’s needs during the pandemic.
